An emerging musician and experienced performer, 24-year-old bassist Sophia Damiani’s willingness to dive deep into her passions with an unrelenting sense of work ethic, personal pride, commitment, and open-mindedness, has proven her values of professionalism and gratitude in creative spaces.

A bass player and artist who shows up for both herself and others with kindness and intention always, Sophia’s experience producing, songwriting, and co-music directing lends itself to an array of expertise within the industry. Whether honing her craft in sessions, jamming with other musicians, or working on specific projects with a variety of bands, Sophia is consistently prepared to nurture her connection to her instrument, the music, and the people around her.

Growing up in Simi Valley, CA, Sophia’s first love was dance. Over ten years of competition, intensives, and recitals gave Sophia her foundation of rhythm, feel and time. When she picked up the bass in the latter half of her junior year in high school, she found a further extension of the groove of dance.

Going on to study at Musician’s Institute, and now USC’s Thornton School of Music, Sophia’s first love of danceable beats has fully evolved into an established purpose in her life. Sophia has learned to accept the process as it comes, never forcing anything in her musical expression and practice. In doing this, she has reinforced her values of gratitude and grace, which are held for herself and others and backed by her willingness to step outside of her comfort zone.

Specializing in Pop, R&B, and Funk, with an affinity for Rock and Motown, Damiani draws stylistically from bassists of past generations, including James Jamerson, Verdine White, Paul McCartney, and Janis Marie Johnson. Maintaining her own distinct groove and feel which she can blend seamlessly with any genre she plays in, is a necessity for Sophia. Currently, she works in the greater Los Angeles area with artists Luna Day, Love Keyyz, Aminta Skye, and more.
